Hot Spring Bath in Hotel Yudanaka
The room was much bigger than I anticipated, and in a Japanese style (with tatami) so I was pleasantly surprised. The onsen in the hotel was an absolute delight. It had several baths with different temperatures, a lounge space, a sauna, a cold bath (which can be rare), and of course everything needed to wash yourself thoroughly before going into the baths. The hotel also provides body towels as well as face towels, so you don't need to bring yours. They have lockers to keep your items safe while bathing. There's free breakfast (little pieces of bread + some juice and coffee/tea) and a space on the first floor to relax after the onsen for example. It has wifi there as well.

Traditional tatami rooms. Floor mattresses were firm but actually pretty comfortable. Our family room was very spacious for 3 people but would have been tight at maximum occupancy. Coffee table + seating area was nice for hanging out. Onsite onsen was a delight to warm up after a day on the slopes and is small-tattoo-friendly (they're not comfortable with full sleeves, etc but were ok with ours which are roughly 10cms). Staff have varying levels of english but very friendly and try their hardest to assist (the Indian guy in the mornings has the best english if you need it).

We had a pleasant stay for two nights. The hotel is in a very central location, making it easy to explore the area. One of the highlights was the amazing spa and onsen area, which the hotel is well known for. The room was very spacious, providing plenty of comfort. I also appreciated the great public working space, which was convenient for getting some work done. Additionally, there is a restaurant in the same building, which made dining very convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The onsen was fantastic after a day's skiing, although westerners should be aware that it's a Japanese-style onsen with Japanese rules (i.e. naked bathing) - a bit confronting the first time you do it! The location is good and the restaurant onsite has good food at reasonable enough prices.

Gavin

The room was more spacious than we thought it would be. The futons were very comfortable and the thick blankets kept us very warm at night. The location was very ideal- there were many onsens just in the area and many places to eat at.
